Sometimes it’s interesting to see something completely more sinister than what’s on the surface of a title. Everything about A Boy and His Blob seems to be filled with child-like wonder and fantasy. In reality, although Blobert looks to be a fighter for the people, the entire premise is based on complete regicide. A Boy and Blobert are freedom fighters. They use drugs as a source of empowerment. They commit murder. Where were the NES censors for this?! Oh. Bribed with jellybeans. Of course.
We weren’t expecting much during the creation of this deep dive but we came out with much more. Even still there are questions that have to be answered. Who are a boy’s parents? What time of night did he go out? Most importantly…how the hell is he going to get home? Whatever. Long live A Boy.
